The Smith Estate is located in the town of Sonoma on the valley floor, nestled against the Sonoma Creek.  The Estate has a long history, and is 174 years old.
Established in the early 1850’s, it was the home of General Vallejo’s son, Andronico Vallejo.
 The estate has always been a working ranch, producing apple and pear orchards, wine grapes, chickens and eggs.
In 1974, Jim and Gloria Smith purchased the small 7 acre ranch which then had 75 year old head-pruned Barbara grapes and apple trees.
In 1989, as consumer wine tastes were evolving, Jim replanted the vineyard with Chardonnay grapes and he sold them to Schug Winery for 20 years.
In 2018, Jim passed away, and a new generation of Smith/Lindstrom’s began managing the vineyards alongside Carneros Vineyard Management.
Sustainability is highly valued by Smith/Lindstrom’s, and we integrated sustainable practices into our farming and ranch.
From 2019 to 2023, we sold our grapes to Sara Folwer at Peju Province Winery/Calmére Estate Winery. Sara made a Chardonnay
blend which the majority of the grapes came from our vineyard. It recieved 91pts in the Wine Spectator.
We are currently looking for a buyer and home for the 2024 harvest and beyond.

Sagrantino is a restive rare red grape from Umbria, Italy. It is a full-bodies red with distinctive flavors which distinguishes it from other red wines. It also blends nicely with other Italian wines such as Sangiovese, This wines continues to improve with age.

For 2024 we will have a small block of the dark skinned Pinot Noir clone 828 on 420A rootstock that will yield about 3 to 4 tons. Previously it was used as a blender with our 2021 Dijon Pinot Noir that won the 2023 Pinot Noir Best of class at the PD North Coast wine competition. We are located on deposited soils on the elevated plateau above and south of the Russian River which makes our terrior different from most RRV AVE Pinot.
Price is $4600/ton and a sample of that 2023 winner is available for serious inquiries. FYI we sell our other fruit (Chardonnay too) to some of the best known producers in the area but we are always interested in new contacts.

Tanuda Ridge Vineyard is farmed sustainability using manual labor and hand picking at harvest. Premium Pinot grapes were a previous Sonoma County Harvest Fair gold medal winner and have been sold to wineries since 2005. Soil varies from loam to goldridge and terroir is ideal for Pinot Noir with fog in the mornings burning off between 9:00 and 11:00, hot days and cool nights.
