San Francisco International Airport is the closest major international airport to Sonoma County. Alternatively, you may consider flying into Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, a smaller regional airport conveniently located within Sonoma County.

What time should I arrive on the first day?

Grape Camp will begin with an evening welcome wine dinner. Guests are encouraged to arrive in Sonoma County during the morning or early afternoon on Sunday, October 4th to allow ample time for travel and check-in prior to the evening’s festivities.

What time does Grape Camp end on the final day?

Grape Camp programming will conclude on Tuesday, October 6th with a farewell dinner. Guests will stay that evening, with departures scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, October 7th at hotel check-out.

Is transportation provided from the airport?

Guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Sonoma County and to the host hotel. Once onsite, Sonoma County Winegrowers will provide all transportation throughout the Grape Camp experience, there is no need to rent a vehicle.

For airport transfers, we recommend pre-arranging a private car service for a seamless and elevated arrival experience. Trusted options serving Sonoma County include:

The host property will be announced in advance of the event, and all rooms will be arranged to ensure a comfortable and elevated stay for our guests.

Can I extend my stay before or after Grape Camp?

Yes, guests are welcome to extend their stay before or after Grape Camp to further enjoy Sonoma County during the harvest season. Once announced, we recommend contacting the host hotel directly to arrange additional nights.

Can I request a roommate or specific room type?

Yes. As we move closer to the event, guests will receive a detailed pre-arrival form to capture rooming preferences.

Packing & Dress Code

What should I pack for Grape Camp?

October in Sonoma County is characterized by warm, sunny days and notably cooler evenings, with temperatures varying significantly from morning to night. While days are often bright and clear, occasional light rain is possible, so it’s best to be prepared. Dressing in layers is essential to stay comfortable throughout the day’s activities. We recommend packing versatile clothing, including light layers, a warm jacket, comfortable daytime attire, and elevated options for evening dinner events.

What kind of shoes should I bring for vineyard activities?

For vineyard experiences, we strongly recommend wearing flat, closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or sturdy walking shoes. Guests will be navigating vineyard rows and uneven terrain, so appropriate footwear will help ensure both comfort and safety throughout the experience.

Is there a dress code for dinners or events?

Evening events and hosted dinners are best described as “Sonoma County wine country chic.” Guests typically opt for polished yet relaxed attire—think elevated casual or resort-style fashion that reflects the laid-back elegance of wine country.

Physical Activity & Accessibility

How physically demanding is Grape Camp?

While certain activities—such as vineyard visits and harvest experiences—may involve light physical movement, participation is always optional. Guests are welcome to opt out of any activity at any time and instead relax and observe. Learn more about last year’s 2025 Grape Camp

Last year’s Sonoma County Grape Camp was an unforgettable three-day immersion in the heart of wine country. Guests from across the country came together in Sonoma County, California to experience the harvest season like true insiders- rolling up their sleeves alongside winemakers, growers, and chefs to taste, learn, and live the magic of Sonoma County.

Day One: A Warm Welcome & A Harvest Surprise

The journey began at the serene Harmon Guest House, where guests settled in before gathering for a creekside welcome reception featuring local wines and small bites. An elegant wine-paired dinner at the Bubble Room at J Vineyards & Winery set the tone for the days ahead, highlighting the region’s signature hospitality.

Just when it seemed the evening was winding down, guests were whisked away for a thrilling surprise night harvest in Russian River Valley. Under the Sonoma County stars, campers joined local growers in the vineyard, witnessing the energy and skill of vineyard employees, a memory that quickly became a camp favorite.

Day Two: Hands-On Winemaking & Vineyard Adventures

The second day kicked off with a lively breakfast at Appellation Healdsburg, with guest appearance by co-founder and celebrity chef Charlie Palmer. With energy high, guests headed to Trione Vineyards & Winery for a behind-the-scenes tour of the crush pad, fermentation tanks, and barrel rooms – an insider’s look into winemaking.

The late morning unfolded at Limerick Lane Cellars, where a guided vineyard tour and seasonal wine country lunch offered a delicious glimpse into Sonoma County sustainability and terroir. The visit came with a surprise: a grape stomp in the cellar, bringing laughter, purple-stained feet, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

After a break to explore the charming Healdsburg Plaza, guests regrouped for intimate “Truck Talks” with Sonoma County winegrowers—an opportunity to share stories, ask questions, and connect directly with the farmers cultivating the region’s wines. The day closed with a festive ranch dinner hosted by Vino Farms, where growers, winemakers, and campers came together to celebrate harvest with seasonal pairings and world-class wines.

Day Three: Blending, Pairing & the Art of the Farm to Table

On the final day, guests embraced their inner winemaker with a wine blending workshop with Rodney Strong Vineyards, crafting their own unique red wine blends under expert Winemaker guidance.

At Bricoleur Vineyards, the group stepped into the garden to harvest fresh produce before learning to make handmade pasta with the estate chef for a true farm-to-table food and wine experience. This hands-on meal highlighted the connection between Sonoma County’s farmers, chefs, and vintners—bringing the story of the land full circle.

The afternoon continued at La Crema Estate, where an engaging wine seminar offered deeper insight into the science and artistry behind winemaking. After a short refresh at the hotel, guests gathered for a farewell dinner at Gary Farrell Winery, raising a final toast to new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
