Winegrower and Chairman of the Sonoma County Winegrowers Board, Glenn Proctor, comes from a multigenerational farming family who has had roots here for years. Glenn’s family immigrated to beautiful Dry Creek Valley in 1889 to settle in wine country. With wine on their minds, they knew they wanted to invest in property, which eventually lead them to purchase Puccioni Ranch in 1904. The family has continuously farmed grapes on the property, and in the early 1920’s and 30’s operated and oversaw Puccioni Winery. Today, Glenn is one of the proud owners of Puccioni Ranch and serves as the General Manager. Glenn also started Puccioni Vineyards back in 2002, a small handcrafted Old Vine Zinfandel brand using the grapes from his family’s property.
He is also a partner at The Ciatti Company, the world’s largest broker of bulk wine and grapes. Glenn joined the company in 2003 and became partner in 2007. Their focus is to assist with the partnership between buyers and sellers and has offices in 9 different countries throughout the world. In Glenn’s role, he advises his clients on their supply positioning and works closely with growers and wineries in marketing their grapes and wine. He has over 30 years of experience relating to wine supply strategy, wine-grape quality and production, brand strategy, and business development.
Glenn was an attendee of Healdsburg High School and then went on to graduate from California State University Fresno, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Viticulture/Plant Science. With a great love for farming and wine, Glenn continued his education at UC Davis where he earned a master’s degree in Horticulture. Glenn went on to complete a two-year fellowship with the California Agricultural Leadership Program and graduated with Class 29.
Glenn has also served time on many boards over the years, including the Board of Directors of the California Wine Institute, American Vineyard Foundation, California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG), California Ag Leadership Alumni Council, Healdsburg Future Farmers Country Fair, and the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley. Currently he serves as the Chairman on the Sonoma County Winegrowers board and is a board member for Healdsburg Little League.
Glenn resides in Bennett Valley, where he lives with his wife Laurie and his two boys, Joshua and Noah. When Glenn isn’t working, you can likely find him out coaching his boys’ little league teams, which is one of his most favorite things!
