Off the Vine: Show #8 – December 30, 2014

For the last show of 2014, Karissa and Steve Jaxon welcomed into studio Duff Bevill of Bevill Vineyard Management to discuss Sonoma County Winegrowers biggest achievements of the year, including our sustainability initiative. Duff was one of the major catalysts for launching this important, groundbreaking initiatives.  During the show, he discusses his background of farming in Sonoma County, including managing over 1,000 acres of vineyards throughout the county.  As Duff remarked, “I’ve farmed lots of different varieties of grapes over the past 40 years, including some that no longer exist in Sonoma County such as French Colombard.”

The group also took a look back at all the major accomplishments of the year, including the growing season and harvest, and the SCW’s bold commitment to sustainability. Karissa and Duff reminisced about that infamous Saturday afternoon email that became the catalyst for launching a major initiative to become the nation’s first 100% sustainable wine region.
