Sonoma County Winegrowers Bring Sustainability to Life with Augmented Reality

This year, in addition to sharing the success of the Sonoma County Sustainable label, we are thrilled to announce the addition of Augmented Reality to select labels that bare the seal. This exciting project was initiated as part of a larger strategy to ensure the Sonoma CountyWinegrowers’ messages of quality and sustainability are reaching the millennial population by taking advantage of break-through technology.

So how does it work?

First, a user downloads the Sonoma County Sustainable Wine app (available now in the Apple App Store and on Google Play). When the app opens, the user will get brief instructions. Once read, the app will display a view much like the “camera” feature on smart phones through which the user can look at the bottle. When the device is held up to the bottle, an animation will appear around the bottle with a narrator describing Sonoma County’s commitment to sustainability and artisan, farm-to-table winegrowing. This brings the idea of Sonoma County and sustainable winegrowing into a fun, interactive story that can be enjoyed by wine lovers from anywhere in the country!

In 2019, several wines will roll out with this technology in their label. These include wines from Ferrari-Carano, Dutton Estate, Francis Ford Coppola, Cline, Dutton-Goldfield and Lynmar and we hope to add many more throughout the year. Try it for yourself today, and contact us to learn more about how your brand can join in featuring this exciting technology on your label!
